Dubai is a city where the public transportation system is one of the most developed in the world. There are many convenient modes of traveling within Dubai, whether you are a tourist or a resident.

 

The Dubai Metro

is the most convenient and cost-efficient mode of transport in Dubai. The Dubai Metro offers a fast and cost-efficient way to travel from one end of the city to the other. It stops at many points across Dubai, such as the Mall of Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall, BurJuman and Al Rigga, making it easy for passengers to reach all major destinations on time.

Dubai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Dubai, as well as other parts of the United Arab Emirates. The Dubai Metro is the first urban train network in the Arabian Peninsula and the largest in the region by scale, capacity and passengers served per day.

 

Dubai Public Bus-

Dubai buses are operated by the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai. Buses operate from 6:00 am – 11:00 pm (midnight). There are three routes: Red Route, the Blue Route and Green Route. The Red route operates a circular route in Deira starting from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station, which passes through Al Shindagha Tunnel, Bur Dubai, Deira and then turn into Diera again via Al Ghubaiba Tunnel. The Blue route goes from Rashidiya Metro station to the Mall of the Emirates via Hor Al Anz, Sharjah Street, Union Square, Mercato Shopping Mall and then back to Rashidiya.

Dubai Transport – Public bus is likely the cheapest way of traveling within Dubai. At the same time, it can be the toughest option. Buses can get crowded, but do not rely on them as your primary mode of transportation. They are really useful when you need a quick ride to get somewhere within Dubai city.

Public transport in Dubai can be divided into 6 main categories: The Metro, Public Buses, Taxis, Car Hire, Water Taxis and finally the Dubai Tram. Unlike most other cities of this size or larger, public transport is actually affordable and easy to negotiate once you know how to use it.

It is always hard to catch a taxi at times and it cost a lot. Some examples could be, from Intl City -> Oud Metha- Avg cost could be Dhs. 45 & Mall of the Emirates-> Jebel Ali could reach up to 130–150 Dhs. Don’t even mention Jebel Ali to other parts like Oud Mehta, Fahidi or Intl City.

Dubai Taxi – Today’s modern transport, offering the latest technology and style. Another plus is it gives you the option to pay via credit card, or if you would rather not, cash (Dhiram) is always accepted. The good thing about Dubai Taxi is that it costs less than your average private cab company, which would be approximately Dhs. 30 over the same distances.

 

Private Vehicle:

A private mode of transport would be the best mode of local transport when traveling in Dubai. This could be a car, SUV, or even a limousine. A private vehicle is practical and has privacy for your trip and it also does not have any stops along the way, so it is faster.

RTA Water taxis are a handy way to travel in Dubai. They are the easiest, safest and most fun ways to get around the creeks and canals of this watery city. Routes can be confusing and timetables are irregular to say the least. However, their main benefits are that they provide incredible views of some areas of the city that can’t be seen from other routes and they’re a great way to get across the Creek or Canal quickly without looking out at the road on either side. You’ll find water taxis in various points around Dubai Marina or Deira, including the Burj Al Arab Hotel itself. Private Shuttle Transport buses are really just ordinary buses but with reduced fares since they tend to link up with hotels around Dubai hotels.
